Lisle Dad Who Threatened to Kill Daughter's Coach Pleads Guilty

John Kasik confessed to threatening to kill the Lisle High School girls' volleyball coach and rape his family; his attorney said that he "overreacted."

A 61-year-old Lisle father has pled guilty to a felony harassment charge for threatening to kill his daughters' volleyball coach at Lisle High School and rape the man's family after one of his daughters was benched during a game, the Daily Herald reports.

According to the paper, John Kasik, a former Oak Park-River Forest High School coach and special-ed teacher, was sentenced to 24 months probation and 20 days in a DuPage County work alternative program.

After the Lions girls' volleyball team lost a regional match in October in which one of Kasik's daughters was sidelined and replaced by her sister, authorities said, Kasik left hours of angry voice and text messages on the phone of coach Matt Krubesky threatening to kill him and rape his wife and daughters; then—in a meeting with Lisle High School athletic director Dan Dillard—began physically bumping the man as he tried to leave his office.

Kasik's defense attorney told the Herald that his client "overreacted... it was an aberration in the conduct of somebody who never did anything (criminal) in his whole life... We believed we structured something so that this will never happen again."

Kasik's plea deal also includes complete sobriety for the duration of his probation, six months with an alcohol-monitoring device, a two-year ban from Lisle High School (except for a daughter's graduation) and written apologies; in exchange, the battery charges were dropped, the paper said.
