Lisle Emergency: Road Closures, Power Outages, Sandbag Volunteers Needed

Residents near the corner of Lacey Avenue and Dumoulin Avenue are being evacuated. A shelter and sandbags are available for residents.

Westbound Maple Avenue, Il Rte 53 to Burr Oak
Warrenville Road at White Birch
Il Rte 53 & Main Street
Il Rte 53 & Short Street
Il Rte 53 between Maple Avenue and Butterfield Road 
St Joseph's Creek at Ogden Avenue

New Sandbag Locations: 
Lacey Avenue & MacKenzie Station Drive
Riverview Drive & Maple Avenue
River Drive & Burlington Avenue

  • There is limited access to Four Lakes due to power outages affecting 500 - 1000 customers.
  • Volunteers are needed to help fill sandbags. Those wishing to volunteer should go to one of the sandbag locations. Please check road closure info before attempting to go to sandbag locations as many major thoroughfares in Lisle are impassable. 
  • The Village of Lisle would like people to avoid travel throughout the area. Many roads are closed or impassable. 
  • Village of Lisle Commuter Lots are open and passable.  However, the Garfield parking lot (west of Main Street) is flooded. 

Updated, 12:37 p.m.: The Village of Lisle has released an additional statement:

"Due to safety and health hazards, residents that have been evacuated are NOT to return to their residence until authorized by the Lisle Police Department and/or Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District. Do not go into flood basements, Do not attempt to shut off utilities; Do not allow children to wade/swim in flooded areas. Call the Lisle Police Department with your questions or concerns.

The Lisle Police Department has confirmed that police are evacuating the subdivision at the corner of Lacey Avenue and Dumoulin Avenue, which sits right next to a body of water and a creek, due to flooding.

A Department officer reached by phone confirmed the evacuation and said that the Department is "very busy" at the moment. 

The following is a release from the Village of Lisle website:

Due to the current weather situation, the Village of Lisle has declared a state of emergency.  
 
Residents evacuating homes or businesses due to flooding are advised to use the Krasa Center at Benedictine University if they require shelter. The Krasa Center is located on the campus of Benedictine University at College Rd. and Maple Ave. Entrance to the center can be made off of College Rd.
 
For residents requiring sandbags, Village of Lisle Public works will be staging sand and bags at the following areas:
 
River Dr. at Ogden Ave
River Dr. at Burlington
Lacey Ave. at  Route 53
 
Due to the extensive flooding residents, commuters, and visitors are advised to avoid unnecessary travel.
 
The Lisle Police Department also advises of the dangers of attempting to drive or walk through standing or flood waters.  Waters can vary in depth and current causing vehicles or people to be swept away.
