Lisle Groomer Opened Shop to Dogs Waterlogged by Flood

The Hand 'n Paw grooming salon in the Lisle downtown opened its doors after the storm to offer free DIY grooming to the owners of dogs who got smelly in flood waters.

Humans weren’t the only ones affected by the flooding that swept through Lisle in mid-April—many pets were temporarily left in apartments during the rescues, and others took ended up taking dips in the less-than-pristine floodwater.

The latter issue is one that downtown grooming salon Hand ‘n Paw tackled during the crisis two weeks ago when the shop opened its doors to offer free do-it-yourself dog washes—typically $16—to residents whose dogs may were soaked in the flood, the Suburban Life reports.

“We just had a ton of dogs coming in after the floods hit town, and many of them smelled awful. We think it was from some of the sewage in the flood waters,” Beth Hand, owner of the groomer’s shop, told the paper. “We figured it was just something we can do for everyone, as bad as it was around town.”
