New Tier 2 COVID-19 Mitigation Efforts Begin

The Governor’s Office and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) have announced that, due to continued rising COVID-19 positivity rates and hospital admissions for COVID-19 cases, Tier 2 level restrictions for DuPage County and Region 8 (DuPage and Kane counties) will go into effect Wednesday, November 11 at 12:01 a.m. Positivity rates have increased from 9.8 to 13.3 percent for the seven day rolling average. The following expanded mitigations will go into effect:

• All bars and restaurants close at 11:00 p.m.• No indoor dining or bar service• All bar and restaurant patrons should be seated at outdoor tables• No ordering, seating or congregating at bars• Tables should be six feet apart• No tables exceeding six people (Tier 2)• Limit to 10 guests per group in indoor and outdoor venues, applicable to professional, cultural and social group gatherings (down from 25 guest limit in Tier 1)

IDPH will continue to track the positivity rate in the region to determine if mitigations can be relaxed, if additional mitigations are required, or if current mitigation should remain in place. If the positivity rate averages less than or equal to 6.5 percent over a 3-day period, the region will return to Phase 4 mitigations under the Restore Illinois Plan.
