A 29-year-old man was struck and killed Wednesday, Oct. 8 as he ran across Butterfield Road just west of Route 53.

Downers Grove police said the man, Antonio Cirilo of Wheaton had tried to enter the PADS shelter at Peace Lutheran Church, 21W500 Butterfield Road. After he was denied entry for violating the rules, Cirilo became upset and ran across the road, said Sgt. David Bormann of the DGPD.

Officers closed eastbound access to Butterfield Road at Route 53 and partitioned off one lane of westbound traffic.
