Purge Furniture, Other Household Items During Clean-Up Day In Lisle

Forget spring-cleaning....how about a fall overhaul ahead of Clean-Up Day, which is slated for Oct. 7.

LISLE, IL — If you missed out on spring-cleaning, don't fret...Clean-Up Day is set for Oct. 7 in Lisle, giving residents a chance to do a complete fall overhaul and purge some of their superfluous items.

Customers of Lakeshore Recycling Systems' sticker or cart services can leave out as much refuse as they'd like on the curb to guarantee pickup during the event. Stickers must be placed on five items; additional items will not need stickers. To ensure pickup, residents must completely seal mattresses in plastic.

Excluded in the collection will be:

  • Appliances
  • Building materials
  • Hazardous or electronic waste
  • Pianos and other very heavy items
  • Railroad ties
  • Tires
  • Yard waste

Items can be hauled to the curb as early as Oct. 4, following that day's normal trash collection. The deadline to place refuse at the curb is 6 a.m. on Oct. 7.
