The Museums at Lisle Station Park Hosts Blacksmithing Program

You won't need your smart phone to make your own hand-forged hook in this three-hour class.

Learn the processes of upsetting, drawing a taper, fullering, twisting and scrolling in the Blacksmith Shop at the .

Basic Elements of Blacksmithing: Part One, for those 18 and up, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 921 School St., Lisle.

Participants will bring home their own hand-forged hook from this three hour class. Blacksmiths will supply materials and standard gloves and safety glasses or participants may bring your own.

Those in the class must wear leather shoes and clothing made of natural fibers. Long sleeves are suggested.

The fee is $25 for residents and $30 for nonresidents. Register by Monday, Sept. 3.
