Village Adopts Long Term Plans Addressing Infrastructure Maintenance And Improvements

The plan aims to improve bicycle, pedestrian and storm water infrastructure.

During a meeting held November 2, 2020, the Lisle Village Board adopted two long-term plans aimed at maintaining and improving the Village’s bicycle, pedestrian, and stormwater infrastructure. These plans represent another example of the Village Board’s forward-thinking approach to meeting the long term needs of the community in a manner that incorporates sound financial planning.

The 2020 Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Update establishes a list of projects to improve connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists throughout Lisle and provides for easier transitions between sidewalk, trail and path segments. The plan was last updated in 2008, focuses on opportunities to create safe connections to important destinations, and emphasizes access to various business corridors, downtowns, local parks, and schools.

The 2020 Stormwater Master Plan identifies and prioritizes capital improvement projects that are designed to aid in residential stormwater drainage. It includes a ten-year capital plan which identifies drainage conditions throughout the Village and mitigation steps to improve conditions.

These plans were developed with valuable input from Lisle residents, committee members, Village staff and elected officials, along with expert analysis and recommendations provided by professional consultants. Their adoption addresses strategic priority areas established by the Village Board regarding quality economic development, good governance and fiscal responsibility, and fosters organizational excellence that delivers quality Village services and dependable infrastructure. Both adopted plans can be viewed on the Village’s website at villageoflisle.org.
