The following is a release from the Village of Lisle:
Lisle Floodplain Property Owners: During the July 1 Village Board Workshop discussion, it was noted that a pre-application for FEMA funding is due at the end of the month. This potential funding would be directed toward the elevation and/or buy-out of floodplain properties.
At the same time, the Village Board needs to evaluate the future of these floodplain properties. The Board would like to know what floodplain property owners would prefer to have happen to their own properties.
A brief survey is being conducted to try to achieve a preliminary response from floodplain property owners regarding their preferences. It is hoped that an initial response will be available for the Board prior to the next Board meeting, which is scheduled for July 15.
If the Board directs staff to file a pre-application for FEMA funding by July 31, it is in no way a final decision or resolution as to the future of these properties. But the sooner property owner input is received, the more helpful it will be for the Board to understand the desires of the owners.
