2 Manhattan D114 School Board Members Resign, Replacements Sought

Following the resignations of two board members, Manhattan District 114 officials on Thursday announced they're accepting applications.

MANHATTAN, IL — The Manhattan District 114 Board of Education is seeking to fill two spots, following the resignations of two of its members.

Board members Cheryl Donovan and Ryan Gulli have resigned, the district said Thursday. Those selected to fill their seats will serve on the board from July 23 until May 2025.

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a resident of Illinois and the District for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment
  • Be a registered voter
  • Not be a child sex offender
  • Not hold another incompatible public office
  • Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the district
  • Not be a school trustee
  • Not hold certain types of prohibited State or Federal employment
  • Show familiarity with the Board’s policies regarding the general duties and responsibilities of a Board and a Board member, including fiduciary responsibilities, conflict of interest, ethics, and gift ban. The Board’s policies are available on the Manhattan School District #114 website.

Interested applicants must submit a written letter of interest to Superintendent Dr. Ron Pacheco at rpacheco@manhattan114.org by July 12. Letters must include a candidate's qualifications.

Interviews will be held at a Special Meeting of the Board of Education on July 23. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted to schedule an interview time.
