Gas Price Update: Pain At The Pump With Record Highs Around Manhattan
Gas prices are at record highs in and around Manhattan, so before you fill up the tank, take a look at the lowest gas prices nearby.
MANHATTAN, IL — Manhattan residents are feeling the squeeze at the pump with gas prices at a record high in Illinois. The average price of gas in Illinois was at about $4.80 per gallon Thursday, according to AAA. That's up 26 cents from a week ago.
In Will County, the average price for a gallon of gas was around 7 cents over the state average on Thursday at about $4.87 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Will County Thursday was selling for $4.62 at Citgo, 270 W. North St. in Manhattan. Here are some other places you can save in and near Manhattan:
- Costco, 16261 S. Boulevard Place in Plainfield, $4.62.
- Sam's Club, 321 S. Larkin Ave. in Joliet, $4.62.
- BP, 555 W. North St. in Manhattan, $4.64.
- Minit Mart, 200 E. Mississippi Ave. in Elwood, $4.64.
- Love's Travel Stop, 23801 W. Bluff Road in Channahon, $4.65.
Nationally, the average gas price Thursday was about $4.42 per gallon, also a record high. Illinois' gas prices ranked No. 5 in the lower 48 of the county. Rounding out the rest of the Top 5 states in gas price averages Thursday were California at $5.86, Nevada at $5.12, Washington at $4.91 and Oregon at $4.88, according to AAA. Georgia had the lowest national gas price average at $3.95.
