Gas Price Update: Prices Continue To Decline Around Manhattan
Gas prices are down in and around Manhattan, so before you fill up the tank, take a look at the lowest gas prices nearby.
MANHATTAN, IL — Manhattan residents are getting a little relief at the pump with gas prices down from the previous week. The average price of gas in Illinois was at about $4.44 per gallon Sunday, according to AAA. That's down 5 cents from a week ago.
In Will County, the average price for a gallon of gas was around a dime under the state average on Sunday at about $4.34 per gallon.
Nationally, the average gas price Sunday was about $4.19 per gallon. Illinois' gas prices ranked No. 6 in the lower 48 of the county. The Top 5 states in gas price averages Sunday were California at $5.86, Nevada at $5.12, Washington at $4.71, Oregon at $4.69 and Arizona at $4.65, according to AAA. Missouri had the lowest national gas price average at $3.74.

Even with this week's decline in price, the average for gas is still well above what it was in Illinois last month, which was $4.02.
But, if you know where to look, you can find cheaper gas prices throughout Will County, and you won't even have to leave Manhattan for one of the lowest gas stations.

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Will County Sunday was selling for $3.99 at Murphy USA, 431 E. Lincoln Highway in New Lenox. Here are some other places you can save near Frankfort:
- Shell, 471 N. Nelson Road in New Lenox, $4.03.
- Speedway, 800 W. Maple St. in New Lenox, $4.04.
- Gas N Wash, 700 E. Lincoln Highway in New Lenox, $4.04.
- Speedway, 301 W. Maple St. in New Lenox, $4.04.
- Citgo, 270 W. North St. in Manhattan, $4.05.
