Gas Prices Update: Manhattan Stays Under $5 To Start Week
Gas prices stayed under $5 for the second week in a row in and around Manhattan. Here's a look at where to find the cheapest gas around.
MANHATTAN, IL — Manhattan residents continued to see lower prices at the pump Monday to start the work week, as prices stayed under the $5 per gallon mark for a second week in a row.
Motorists will have to wait to see if the lower prices will continue long-term, but could be encouraged by the overall downward trend across the state and the nation.
In Illinois, the overall average dipped to $4.63, which is down 20 cents from this time last week and down a whopping 74 cents from a month ago, according to AAA.

In Manhattan, the cheapest gas Monday was at Citgo, 270 W. North Street, at $4.69, according to GasBuddy.
The average in Will County remained above the state average Monday, sitting at about $4.79 per gallon, according to AAA.

Gas can be found under $5 a gallon around Manhattan, too, if you know where to look.
The cheapest gas in Will County Monday was at BP, 4802 Canton Farm Road in Joliet, selling for $4.15.

Nationally, the average gas price Monday was about $4.21 per gallon. It was $3.17 at this same point last year, according to AAA.
Illinois' gas prices ranked No. 7 in the lower 48 of the county. The Top 5 states in gas price averages Monday were all out west, with California at $5.61, Nevada at $5.08, Oregon at $5.07, Washington at $5.01 and Idaho at $4.91, according to AAA. Texas had the lowest national gas price average at $3.71.
