Gas Prices Update: Prices Dip Again In And Around Manhattan

The state average for a gallon of gas was slightly down this week. Here's a look at where to find the cheapest gas in and around Manhattan.

MANHATTAN, IL — After a slight increase at the pump last week, Manhattan residents saw a return to lower prices Friday heading into the weekend.

In Illinois, the overall average was at $4.19 Friday, down 10 cents from this time last week, according to AAA.

In Manhattan, the cheapest gas Friday was at Citgo, 270 W. North St., at $4.21, according to GasBuddy. That's a penny lower than what the best price in town was last week.

The average in Will County remained above the state average Friday, sitting at about $4.33 per gallon, down 16 cents from last week, according to AAA.

Gas can still be found for under $4 a gallon around Manhattan, if you know where to look.

The cheapest gas in Will County Friday was at Costco, 16261 S. Boulevard Place in Plainfield, selling for $3.86.

Here are some other places you can save near Manhattan:

  • Mobil & Bucky's, 14808 S. Illinois Route 59 in Plainfield, $3.92.

Nationally, the average gas price Friday was about $3.87 per gallon. It was $3.15 at this same point last year, according to AAA.

Illinois' gas prices ranked No. 7 in the lower 48 of the county. The Top 5 states in gas price averages Friday continue to be on the West Coast, with California at $5.29, Nevada at $4.89, Oregon at $4.80, Washington at $4.75 and Idaho at $4.61, according to AAA. Arkansas had the lowest national gas price average at $3.38.
