Gas Prices Update: Prices Tick Up For Weekend In And Around Manhattan

MANHATTAN, IL — After four weeks of falling prices at the pump, Manhattan residents saw a slight increase Friday heading into the weekend.

In Illinois, the overall average was at $4.29 Friday, up a penny from Monday, according to AAA.

In Manhattan, the cheapest gas Friday was at Citgo, 270 W. North St., at $4.22, according to GasBuddy.

The average in Will County remained above the state average Friday, sitting at about $4.49 per gallon, up 13 cents from Monday, according to AAA.

Gas can still be found for under $4 a gallon around Manhattan, if you know where to look.

The cheapest gas in Will County Friday was at Costco, 16261 S. Boulevard Place in Plainfield, selling for $3.89.

• Shell & Circle K, 24725 W. 143rd St. in Plainfield, $3.90.

Nationally, the average gas price Friday was about $3.92 per gallon. It was $3.18 at this same point last year, according to AAA.

Illinois' gas prices ranked No. 7 in the lower 48 of the county. The Top 5 states in gas price averages Friday were all out west, with California at $5.33, Nevada at $4.92, Oregon at $4.83, Washington at $4.78 and Idaho at $4.67, according to AAA. Arkansas had the lowest national gas price average at $3.43.
