Giving Tuesday is a global initiative that brings people together to harness the potential of collective generosity. Fortunately for folks in the Manhattan area, there’s no shortage of organizations nearby that could greatly benefit from your support.
Here are five outstanding organizations in the Manhattan area. Please consider volunteering or donating to them for Giving Tuesday and beyond.
- Manhattan Cub Scouts Pack 155 — As part of the Boy Scouts of America, Cub Scouts troops seek to teach children teamwork, leadership and citizenship skills through group activities. Cub Scouts Pack 155 participates in several service projects throughout the year, including a food drive, clean-up efforts and packing Thanksgiving food boxes. - Manhattan American Legion — Since 1949, the Manhattan American Legion, Post 935, has welcomed veterans from every branch of the armed forces. Members of the American Legion participate in several annual events, including Wreaths Across America and Poppy Day. - Friends of the Manhattan-Elwood Public Library District — This volunteer organization is dedicated to supporting the local library with fundraising efforts, outreach and advocacy. - United Way of Will County — Dedicated to promoting the safety, health and education of Will County residents, this organization provides programs and services to help people succeed.
