Manhattan Trustee Justin Young has announced that he will seek to extend his stay on the Village Board.

MANHATTAN, IL — Manhattan Trustee Justin Young will seek re-election, he has announced, noting several key achievements made by the Board during his first term.
Young declared his candidacy via social media, enumerating the ways he believes he, along with the current Board, contributed to the Village's progress.
"... We successfully opened Eastern Avenue, enhancing safety for our residents and more importantly new drivers," Young wrote. "We have made significant improvements to our infrastructure throughout the town, including in older neighborhoods, ensuring every area benefits from these upgrades. We developed a downtown plan and have made progress toward realizing a vision that reflects our community’s pride. Additionally, we updated building codes to ensure high-quality construction and are currently revising our comprehensive plan, addressing longstanding needs within the town."

"This effort has led to stricter regulations and enhanced monitoring of commercial vehicles, reducing the impact of disruptive truck traffic and improving road safety, though we recognize that there is still more work to be done," he wrote.
Also instrumental has been fostering a business-friendly environment, Young said, enabling the village to attract several new businesses including McDonald’s, Dunkin’, Arrowhead Smoke Works, Soka Japanese Hibachi and Sushi, and Posh West Boutique.
"These establishments are vital to our community’s economic vitality and contribute to making Manhattan an even more vibrant place to live," Young wrote. "Continuing to advocate and help promote our current businesses has always been top of mind as well. We need new business interest, but we must not forget those that have already been here for many years and are the foundation to our business community.
"... It has been an honor to serve this wonderful community over the past 3 ½ years, and I am eager to continue contributing to our village’s success."
