Over 400 Homes Without Power In Manhattan

As of 7 p.m., 11,000 homes in the Chicago area are without power.

MANHATTAN, IL — Due to high winds and ice accumulation from last night's ice storm, thousands in the Chicago area are without power. As of 7 p.m. Tuesday in Manhattan, 387 homes are without power, and 74 are without power in Manhattan Township.

According to ComEd, one outage was caused by a damaged power line and had an estimated restoration of 11 p.m. Tuesday. The other outage had a 10:30 p.m. restoration time.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory until 3 a.m. Wednesday for Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Cook, La Salle, Kendall, Grundy, Will, Kankakee, Livingston, Iroquois and Ford counties. Winds could gust up to 45 to 50 mph. Since there is a significant amount of ice on trees and power lines, the strong winds could result in downed tree limbs and power lines.
