Pilot Airlifted To Hospital Following Crash In Monee

A small plane crashed Friday in Monee. The pilot was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries, officials said.

MONEE, IL — A small plane crashed Friday in Monee in the area of Will Center Road and Eagle Lake Road, according to the Peotone Fire Protection District. Officials said the pilot suffered critical injuries in the crash.

The Peotone Fire Protection District responded to the crash at approximately 3:20 p.m. They found the plane crashed into some trees with the pilot trapped inside, according to PFPD.

Multiple additional agencies and equipment were called in to assist in the rescue. The pilot was freed from the plane about an hour later, according to PFPD.

A helicopter was called in to take the pilot to University of Chicago Medical Center, officials said.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash, according to PFPD.

Manhattan, Monee and Crete Fire Protection Districts also responded to the crash, along with Will County Sheriff's Office and EMA.
