This year, Memorial Day falls on May 27, and for many, this holiday weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. We've rounded up some things to do Memorial Day Weekend in and around Manhattan. Please note: We recommend calling ahead to confirm the hours and access before you head out the door.

Where: Edward "Doc" McCartan Veterans Memorial, 11 Montrose Dr., Romeoville, IL 60446
What: Pay tribute to veterans’ bravery and sacrifices at the Romeoville Memorial Day Ceremony. Held at the Edward “Doc” McCartan Veterans Memorial, this ceremony will bring the community together to reflect on the courage of those who have served our nation.
25th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony At Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery
When: Monday, May 27 - Musical Prelude at 11:00 a.m., Ceremony at 11:30 a.m.
Where: Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL 60421
What: On Monday, head to Elwood for the 25th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. The ceremony will begin with a musical prelude, followed by the official ceremony to honor the sacrifices of our veterans. Note that parking restrictions will be in place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to accommodate the ceremony.
