As predicted, Mokena has been socked with a high volume of snow over the past 24+ hours.
As clean-up of the community moves forward, we ask for your patience and continued assistance as Mokena’s public works crews do their best to clear the high volume of snow dropped on our streets by this snowstorm.

- Please continue to keep your vehicle(s) off the streets. Maneuvering heavy snow plowing equipment is safer, easier, and more efficient when vehicles are not parked on the streets. Crews can work quicker.
- Avoid blowing or shoveling snow from your driveway or sidewalk onto streets. Snow blown or shoveled onto the street impedes traffic and can block storm sewers, causing icing.
- Public works crews are continuing to work around the clock to clear streets of snow and ice.
- Clearing major arterial streets and keeping them clear is the top priority of public works forces. Residential streets follow, with cul-de-sacs and other areas which receive minimal traffic flow being cleared last.
- Keep in mind that high volumes of snow coupled with winds perpetuate the formation of drifts across streets in certain areas. These areas must commonly be cleared multiple times by public works crews, ultimately adding to the total amount of time required to clear all streets across the community.
- Please share this information with your friends and neighbors.
- Thank you for your continued patience and partnership as clean-up of the community continues.
