Home Invasion Charge Issued For Plano Man Who Also Damaged Property: Montgomery Police

The 32-year-old Plano man is facing charges of attempted home invasion, criminal damage to property, domestic battery and assault.

MONTGOMERY, IL — A Plano man is facing several felony charges after he damaged property and attempted to enter a home Sunday, Montgomery police said.

Montgomery police were dispatched Sunday morning to the 3300 block of Pecos Circle for a report of property damage. The suspect was no longer at the scene when officers arrived, but the homeowner identified him as Jalen K. Ruff, 32, officials said in a news release Wednesday.

The 32-year-old Ruff, of the 700 block of West Rock Street in Plano, later returned and attempted to enter the residence before he was taken into custody, police said.

The Kendall County State's Attorney's Office approved four charges against Ruff: Attempted home invasion, criminal damage to property and domestic battery and assault. The former three are felonies.

It's unclear what led to the domestic battery and assault charges. Police did not respond to Patch's request for comment at the time of publication.

As of Wednesday, Ruff remains in custody at the Kendall County jail. His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 20.
