5-Year Capital Improvement Plan For District 203 Schools Proposed
The first phase of the plan would cost $6M and address HVAC-related system breakdowns. The board of education will vote on it on Oct. 18.
NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville School District 203 board of education will vote on Oct. 18 on the first phase of a proposed five-year capital improvement plan for the district's schools.
The plan would cost around $6 million each year for a total cost of $30 million, Pat Dolan, the district's director of buildings and grounds, said in a presentation to the board of education at its meeting Monday night.
Its 2022-2023 phase would include several HVAC-related projects to address mechanical system breakdowns, particularly at Meadow Glens Elementary School and Lincoln Junior High School, Dolan said. The projects would also replace systems that are at or near the end of their service life..

Among the first phase of projects are a condenser replacement and relocation at Meadow Glens and River Woods elementary schools, a boiler replacement at Lincoln and a boiler addition at Kennedy Junior High School, Dolan said in his presentation.
Those projects will cost $1.3 million, a window and door replacement at Washington Junior High School will cost $850,000 and roof, flooring and asphalt work at multiple schools will cost $1.57 million, the Daily Herald reported.

Future projects include a new stadium scoreboard at Naperville North High School and a complete renovation of that school's tennis courts, Dolan said.
Existing plans may be altered, as District 203 Superintendent Dan Bridges called the five-year plan a "working, living document that is subject to change" based on need or changes in programming or direction.
