Adopt Me!: Thumbelina, Doey, Memphis and Hannah

These are just a few of the adoptable pets waiting for homes at area animal shelters.

Thumbelina is a 3-½-month-old, female Labrador retriever mix puppy.  She’s quite petite, and should grow up to be much smaller than a typical Lab.  Thumbelina came all the way from Oklahoma to find the perfect home and is looking for a family with the time and patience to train a rambunctious little one!  She would be fine living with other dogs and cats.  Because she is very much a puppy and still jumpy and mouthy, kids in her new home should be old enough to handle her rough playing.  A cutie like Thumbelina will find a home quickly, so come meet her at NAHS today!

Doey is a 4-year-old, female, brown tabby Domestic Shorthair. Doey came to to find a perfect home after one of her previous family members developed some severe cat allergies. She’s a big girl with a great big heart.  She is good with kids and might even enjoy living with a dog or two!  For the month of June, adult cats can be adopted from NAHS for a $5 adoption fee to celebrate Adopt A Shelter Cat Month!  Come meet sweet Doey soon. You’ll be sure to fall in love with her!

More dogs and cats are available at the Naperville Area Humane Society. All the animals have been examined for health and temperament, started on their vaccines and microchipped. They are spayed or neutered at adoption. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Visit at 1620 W. Diehl Rd. in Naperville or online at www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org.

Memphis was rescued by from animal control. He is a 1-year-old Siberian Husky who loves to be outside running and playing in the yard.  Memphis is social, intelligent and curious. He would do best in an active household with older children who can provide him with continued training and exercise.

Hannah came to the shelter with a litter of kittens barely a week old. They were in foster care until the babies were old enough to go out on their own. They've all found their forever homes and now it's Hannah’s turn. She may be a mom but she’s a kitten at heart and loves to play. But be careful! She likes to play bite. She gets so excited she doesn’t mean to so a gentle reminder is all she needs. After all, she’s really a lover, not a fighter!
