NAPERVILLE, IL — A Bolingbrook man was hurt when his car exploded in Pioneer Park Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Officers were called to the park at 1212 Washington St. around 9:30 p.m. after residents reported hearing what sounded like an explosion. Police say a 25-year-old man also called to report his car had exploded in Pioneer Park's parking lot.

When police arrived, they say they found the man injured and his car "mangled," a news release said. He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.
