Food Trucks, Live Music Planned For National Night Out In Naperville

NAPERVILLE, IL — Food trucks, ice cream socials, an outdoor movie and dozens of other activities will take place through the city to celebrate National Night Out in Naperville. Slated for Aug. 5 and Aug. 6, the events aim to connect community members with police officers.

On Aug. 5, families can head to Fry Family YMCA at 6:30 p.m. to enjoy a bounce house, live magic, games and food trucks. Visitors can explore police vehicles and chat with officers before watching Lilo and Stitch on the big screen once the sun goes down.

The next day, a total of 43 neighborhood events are planned from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., including live music, ice cream socials, parades and barbecues.

National Night Out got its start in 1984 as an initiative to build relationships between community members and local police departments. Now, events are held throughout the U.S. during the first Tuesday in August each year.
