What’s happening?! The weekend is one day away and it’s time to start planning what to do, where to go and who to see.
After being stuck inside during the snow days, it’s time to get out and play. We offer you a guide to a variety of events in Naperville and around the area this weekend.
Friday
- The vocal ensemble Chicago a cappella will be performing at . The vocalists will perform with pianist Patrick Sinozich and the music will include works from French, South American and American composers. Tickets range in price from $12 to $35, with discounts for seniors.
- Parents, do you have an artistic prodigy? Do your children love finger painting? Peewee Picassos can at the . From Van Gogh to Warhol, the little ones will be given the paint and canvas; all they need to bring is the inspiration.
Saturday
- NPR’s Neal Conan will be at North Central College. A college news release said Neal Conan "narrates a concert that marries music to words in a way that is compelling and beautiful."
- will celebrate its new warehouse facility with a grand opening at the new location. The public is invited to attend the event opening, which will begin at 8 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting presided over by Mayor A. George Pradel and members of the . A public open house and tour will take place from 1 to 5 p.m.
- On Saturday afternoon, is hosting author Susan Elizabeth Phillips for a reading a book signing. Phillips is promoting her book, Call Me Irresistible. In a news release, the bookshop described the book as "romantic and funny."
Sunday
- The Morton Arboretum isn’t just about trees. Sunday, the arboretum will host a Chocolate Expo. Why not check out the beauty of Mother Nature and enjoy some chocolate? There will be local vendors showcasing a variety of chocolate treats and sampling is encouraged. Items will be available for purchase. The event will be held in the visitor’s center.
- Celebrating its 35th Anniversary in 2010-11, the American Sting Quartet will be performing an afternoon concert at North Central College’s Wentz Concert Hall. The quartet is considered one of the foremost quartets in the world, according to its website. The Downers Grove Concert Association presents the event. Students can purchase discounted tickets.
