KidsMatter Teen Philanthropy Initative Offers Grants To Nonprofits
Grant recipients will get up to $2,500 to help fund nonprofit initiatives that benefit young people.

NAPERVILLE, IL — KidsMatter is offering local nonprofits up to $2,500 in individual grants via its Teen Philanthropy Initiative, which is helmed by a team of students.
The grants are available to 501(c)(3) nonprofits or organizations that "have a fiscal agent with 501(c)(3) status," according to KidsMatter. To be eligible, a project must aid young people within the greater Chicago area.
The Teen Philanthropy Initiative got its start in 2023, giving local high school students an opportunity to learn about fundraising, budgeting and other elements of working in the realm of nonprofits. Each year, the program welcomes a group of 30 high school juniors to begin two years of training to gain experience in fundraising, grants, community service and more.

"Students in the Teen Philanthropy Initiative are excited to offer this grant opportunity to nonprofit organizations that support youth in our area. This is a wonderful part of their learning as they gain hands-on experience with evaluating proposals and grant-making," Nina Menis, CEO and Executive Director of KidsMatter, told Patch.
Menis added, "Providing students an introduction to the charitable process is one of the important ways we help young people realize their purpose, know their value and find their pathway."
