Man Fires Gun Into Air Outside Naperville Apartment: Police
A Chicago man was taken into custody after a standoff with police.
NAPERVILLE, IL — A Chicago man was in custody Friday after Naperville police say he fired a gun into the air outside an apartment building in the 1800 block of Michigan Avenue Thursday night. Police responded to the apartments after receiving a 911 call just before 7:40 p.m. saying a man there was suicidal and had access to guns.
As officers arrived, police said the man came out of the apartment and fired a gun into the air. Police said they were able to help a woman leave, but the man retreated into the apartment.
The Naperville Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiations Team responded, and after several hours, officers were able to take the man into custody without further incident, police said.
