No Serious Damage Reported From Tuesday Night's Storm

City reports 826 residents were without power, which was restored overnight.

Despite the strong winds and a funnel cloud being spotted over on Tuesday night, no structural damage was reported, according to city officials.

The city’s Department of Public Works received about 50 service requests for damage to trees, according to a news release from the city of Naperville.

In addition to the damaged trees, the city reported that there were six separate power outages, with a total of 826 customers out of approximately 58,000 affected. The majority of the power outages were in the River Road area south of Sunnybrook Drive and north of Aurora Avenue, according to the city’s news release. The city reported that power was restored to customers by Wednesday morning.

“Severe weather can strike anywhere at any time, with little warning,” said Community Relations Manager Nadja Lalvani in the news release. “This is an excellent opportunity for families to review their plans for when severe weather strikes.”

The city suggests that families review emergency plans and check the contents of a disaster supply kit, Lalvani said in the news release.
