Person Shot In Naperville, Police Say

"Based on the preliminary investigation, this does not appear to be a random act of violence," police said.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A person was shot Sunday in Naperville, according to police.

Officers responded around 2:45 p.m. to the area of Iroquois Avenue and Kennebec Lane, where they found the victim outside a home in the 1000 block of Iroquois Avenue, police said, adding the person was taken to a hospital.

Authorities initially believed the shooter fled on foot, according to police. They established a perimeter, deployed a K-9 and a drone, and alerted nearby residents, asking them to shelter in place, police said. Law enforcement later learned the shooter had fled in a vehicle, according to police.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, this does not appear to be a random act of violence,” police said. “This incident is still under investigation.”
