Police Blotter: Property Damage, Aggravated Battery

Thursday, June 30

Aggravated battery

Elizabeth L. Black, 33, of the 300 block of Stuart Avenue, Aurora, was arrested in the 800 block of S. West Street, police said. She was charged with four counts of aggravated battery of a government official or employee, criminal damage to state property, resisting a peace officer, leaving the scene of an accident involving vehicle damage, failure to give aid or information and operating an uninsured vehicle. Black was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Retail theft

Matthew Dennis Melody, 20, of the 10 block of W. Highland Drive, Bristol, was arrested at 8:59 p.m. in the 1500 block of North Aurora Road ,and charged with retail theft, police said. His bail was $1,500.

Driving under the influence

Niklas G. Hostetter, 23, of the 4000 block of Winberie, was arrested at 1 a.m. in the 24000 block of W. 127thStreet, Plainfield, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured vehicle, driving on a suspended revoked license and failing to reduce speed/driving too fast for conditions. His bail was set at $3,000.

Stolen mail

A 56-year-old man in the 700 block of Torrington Drive reported that mail was stolen between 11:55 a.m. and 12:10 p.m., police said.

Suspicious incident

An employee at Kmart in the 1100 block of E. Ogden Avenue reported at 2:17 p.m. that a man said he was going to “smash the display case and take the jewelry to pawn,” according to police.

Someone reported in the 100 block of Spalding Drive at 11 a.m. that an unknown person tried to forcibly enter a locked office, police said.

Property damage

A 40-year-old woman in the 2800 block of Kilburne Lane reported that between Tuesday and Wednesday her 2009 Mazda was deeply scratched from the back of the car all the way to the front passenger side, police said. The damage was discovered at 10 a.m. The woman also reported the antennae was broken in half, which happened a few days earlier but the owner didn’t report it.
