Watch Firefighters Rescue Boy, 11, From Frozen Naperville Pond

Dramatic video shows the rescue as Naperville firefighters pulled the boy to safety.

NAPERVILLE, IL —Firefighters in Naperville pulled an 11-year-old boy to safety after the child fell through the ice on a pond, several news outlets reported Sunday.

In a video of the incident, a firefighter can be heard telling the boy, "Stay there — we'll come to you," and asking, "Are you all right, buddy?"

Firefighters responded to a 911 call in the 1300 block of McDowell Road just before 5 p.m. The boy told rescuers his feet were stuck in the mud at the bottom of the pond, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Video shows firefighters toss a rescue ring to the boy, instructing him to hold on as they pull him towards the shore. Meanwhile, a diver swims towards the boy before grabbing him and pulling him the rest of the way to safety.

An ambulance can be seen waiting nearby as firefighters help the boy up after pulling him from the water.

The boy was taken to Edward Hospital in stable condition, authorities told the Tribune.
