$1M Bond For Third Suspect In Carjacking, Robbery Of Uber Driver: NLPD
Police have arrested an 18-year-old Chicago man in connection with the June 20 early-morning incident in New Lenox.

NEW LENOX, IL — An additional Chicago man has been arrested and is being held on $1 million bond in connection with a June 20 carjacking, assault and robbery of a 71-year-old Uber driver, New Lenox police said Wednesday.
Police on Friday, June 30, secured an arrest warrant for Martavies L. Sanders, 18, of the 1200 block of 109th Street, in connection with the crime.
Initial attempts to find Sanders were not successful, police said. Investigators turned to the U.S. Marshals Service, who found Sanders in Sangamon County, Illinois on Friday, July 18. He was arrested and remains in custody there, police said.

Sanders is the third to be arrested in the crime. He faces four counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking, four counts of armed robbery, three counts of attempted vehicular hijacking, one count of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Timothy Gaines, 19, of Chicago, and a 17-year-old Chicago boy were previously arrested and charged June 26. Gaines is being held on $1 million bond.

The three are accused of threatening the elderly driver with a gun and demanding his vehicle before yanking him from it and hitting him in the head with the weapon. The suspects took his money clip, phone and keys before taking off in the man's car, police said.
They quickly abandoned the car after taking it— then fleeing in a stolen Hyundai Accent with a third suspect driving, police said.
"The New Lenox Police Department would again like to thank all that assisted in this extensive investigation, including the Will County Sheriff’s Department, the US Marshals Service, Jim Glasgow and the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office," police said in a release.
