New Lenox Man, 23, Hit Utility Pole, Refused To Stop For Police In DUI: New Lenox PD
Police say they tried to pull over James Rossow, but he would not stop.
NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox man who hit a utility pole and fled from police was cited for driving under the influence and fleeing police after refusing to stop for authorities, according to New Lenox police reports.
Police were called to the 300 block of West Maple Street for a report of reckless driving. A caller told police the car was "all over the road" and hit the pole near Subway, 334 W. Maple St. Police say officers spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, identified as James Rossow, 23, of New Lenox, kept driving. Rossow continued on Route 30 while "committing multiple traffic violations," according to police reports.
The vehicle came to a stop at Route 30 and Bluestone Bay Drive. Police said the officer met with Rossow and, after an investigation, determined he was under the influence of alcohol.

He was taken into custody and transported to the New Lenox Police Department. Rossow was then transported to Silver Cross Hospital due to his intoxication, according to police reports.
Due to requiring treatment for intoxication, Rossow was not immediately processed, but cited for similar offenses, police said.
