2 Women Using Counterfeit Money Hit New Lenox Businesses: Police
Police nabbed the two Indiana women following an attempt at an auto store May 15.
NEW LENOX, IL — Two Indiana women face forgery charges after police said they attempted to use counterfeit $100 bills to make purchases in New Lenox.
Police said Kenyada Newman, 32, of Indianapolis, handed over a fake $100 bill at Advanced Auto Parts, 428 E. Lincoln Highway the afternoon of May 15.
As police responded to the call, dispatch relayed that similar incidents had been reported in neighboring towns. Police learned that Newman, and Janiya Wilkerson, 22, of Indianapolis, had made similar attempts at other locations in New Lenox.

Newman and Wilkerson were taken into custody and transported to the NLPD. Both were charged with forgery and taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
