Sauk Village Police Officer Shoots Boy Fleeing Police: ISP
A Sauk Village police officer shot and wounded a boy Friday morning, according to Illinois State Police.
State officials said the shooting occurred in the 22000 block of Torrence Avenue Friday at around 8:50 a.m. Officers were called to a home in the area but did not say what the call was about.

Grand Opening Wednesday For Bourbons Smokehouse In New Lenox
After a successful soft opening over the weekend, Bourbons Smokehouse is set for its official grand opening Wednesday at 280 E. Lincoln Highway in New Lenox. A ribbon cutting ceremony with the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for 10 a.m., and the restaurant will be open for service at 11 a.m.
14-Year-Old Shot, Cop Car Hit By Bullet In Oak Lawn Shooting
A 14-year-old was shot Saturday afternoon as the vehicle the teen was riding was pursued and shot at by the occupants of an SUV. An Oak Lawn police vehicle was also struck by gunfire, police said.
Mokena PD Accepting Applications For Police Officers
The Mokena Police Department is accepting applications for full-time police officers. Applications are due by 4 p.m. May 18.

Cunningham Says No To Prison Board Member Who Paroled Cop Killers
State Senator Bill Cunningham (18th District) voted against the nomination of an interim member of the Illinois Prison Review Board who granted parole for two convicted cop killers.
On Monday, the Illinois Senate voted 31-15 against the nomination of Gov. J.B. Pritzker nominee Eleanor Wilson, who has been serving on the Illinois Prison Review Board in an interim capacity since Pritzker nominated her March 2021.
Sentencing Delayed For Orland Man On Criminal Sex Assault Charge
Sentencing for an Orland Park real estate developer who pleaded guilty to criminal sexual assault was postponed Wednesday when prosecutors said he picked up a DUI charge. Cook County Judge John T. Gallagher revoked bond for 48-year-old Gregory Perkins, who is now being held in Cook County Jail.

Posen Man Is 'Outstanding Citizen' For Saving Neighbor From Fire
A Posen man was honored by the village last week for his efforts in saving an elderly man from a house fire, village officials told Patch.
Jose Thomas Martinez was given the Outstanding Citizen Award at Posen's March 22 village board meeting. According to officials, Martinez ran into a blazing house on Jan. 6 after he heard his neighbor screaming for help.
