Teen Driver In Crash With Semi Expected To Recover: Police
The teen was involved in a crash with a semitruck Wednesday morning but is expected to recover, according to New Lenox Police Department.
NEW LENOX, IL — The teen driver who was involved in a crash Wednesday is still hospitalized but expected to recover, according to a news release from the New Lenox Police Department. The crash happened shortly before 5 a.m. on Laraway Road near Spencer Road and Cedar Road.
Laraway Road was fully reopened at approximately 10:22 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Facebook post from New Lenox Emergency Services. Hazmat crews were called in to assist with the cleanup, according to the post.
The New Lenox Police Department and the New Lenox Fire Protection District both responded to the crash. The teen was taken out of the vehicle and transported to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, New Lenox Chief of Police Louis Alessandrini said.

The teen, identified only as a male New Lenox resident, was later airlifted to Loyola Medical Center in Chicago.
The driver of the semitruck was also taken to Silver Cross Hospital as a precaution but is OK and is cooperating with the investigation, Alessandrini said.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Will County Sheriff's Accident Recovery Team was on site to assist the New Lenox Police Department.
