Pet Dies, Firefighters Injured In New Lenox House Fire
Authorities said the residents were able to escape, but one of their pets perished, while another is missing, in the Monday morning fire.

NEW LENOX, IL — Residents were able to escape a house fire in the 100 block of Roberts Road Monday morning, fire officials said, but one of their pets perished in the blaze and another remains missing.
Crews from the New Lenox Fire Protection District arrived at the scene just after 10 a.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the one-story home. Most of the fire was in the garage behind the house, according to officials.
All occupants of the home were able to get out before firefighters arrived, but one of their pets was killed and another was missing, according to a news release from New Lenox Fire Protection District.

There were two minor injuries involving firefighters, according to officials.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in around 35 minutes. Nearby Route 30 was closed for a short time to allow access to a fire hydrant, but has since reopened.

Nearby fire districts covering additional calls for service during the blaze included Manhattan, Frankfort, East Joliet, Mokena, Homer, Orland, Elwood, Lockport, Northwest Homer, Lemont, and Minooka, as well as New Lenox police, the Will County Sheriff's Office and the Will County Emergency Management Agency.
