Ex-Gal Pal's Guy Friend Beaten By Mini-Sledgehammer-Wielding New Lenox Man: Cops
The ex-girlfriend's companion was struck in the head with a mini-sledgehammer, police said.

Officers were reportedly sent to a home on Central Road about 3 a.m. Friday and met with a man who claimed to have been hit in the head with a mini-sledgehammer.
The hammered man told officers “he was doing some work in the house with a female friend when her ex-boyfriend” — 37-year-old Matthew Mikos — “entered the residence and struck him on the side of the head with a mini-sledgehammer,” police said.
Mikos and the other man “briefly wrestled over the mini-sledgehammer and then Mikos left the scene,” police said.
New Lenox firefighters were reportedly called to the house to examine the man’s injuries and he turned down a trip to the hospital.
The cops searched for Mikos but he was nowhere to be found, police said. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest Friday and he reportedly showed up at the police station to turn himself in.
Mikos was released from custody after he posted bond.
