NEW LENOX, IL — Will County, alongside the New Lenox Safe Communities America Coalition, is offering free Narcan training in August. Narcan, generically known as naloxone, is a nasal spray that blocks the effects of opioids, potentially saving the life of a person overdosing.

The training, on Aug. 22, will run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. It's part of the "Your Light Still Shines" event, which will include memorials for those who've been lost to overdoses, informational tables, the H.E.R.O. "Hidden in Plain Sight" trailer, a prescription drug take back a panel of speakers.

Dr. Kathleen Burke, Director of Substance Use Initiatives at the Will County Executive’s Office, is instructing. She'll also provide all attendees with a Narcan Nasal Spray Kit when training is over.
