Hot Pepper Eating Contest To Put Tastebuds To The Test In New Lenox

The contest will be held during New Lenox's newest event, Food Fight: Taco Fest on Saturday, July 15.

NEW LENOX, IL — Those with like to add a little spice have a chance to show just how much they can take.

A hot pepper eating contest has been added to the lineup for New Lenox's Food Fight: Taco Fest, set for Saturday, July 15.

Contestants will try six different peppers, with each subsequent one turning up the heat. Each round will last one minute, with a three-minute break between as the next pepper is passed out.

Milk, water and bread will be provided for those who might need it, but if you eat or drink anything provided before the contest ends, you're out. Those that manage to eat all six peppers without drinking or eating anything will be awarded a prize.

The contest will take place at the New Lenox Commons, at 5:30 p.m. Taco Fest will take place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Come for the tacos, stay for the peppers and prancing chihuahuas; a chihuahua beauty pageant will be held at 3:45 p.m.
