In New Lenox alone there are 69 troops, said Witt. The girls range in age from 5-17, and they participate as blue-clad Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors. At age-appropriate levels, Witt said, Girl Scouts are founded on the idea of building character, self-esteem and serving the community.
About 1,000 girls participate in Girls Scout programs from this community.
Hurry up and get your orders in, said Witt, adding that cookies can also be purchased and donated to local service organizations and the New Lenox Township Food Pantry.
