Mailboxes Pried Open At New Lenox Post Office, Police Warn
The incident happened over the weekend and after Saturday, Sept. 2 after 5 p.m.

NEW LENOX, IL — Outdoor mailboxes at the New Lenox Post Office were pried open over the weekend, jeopardizing any personal or financial information that might have been deposited there, New Lenox police said Tuesday.
Police said the theft happened sometime after 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2 at the post office, 300 N. Vine St.
"If you utilized these mailboxes on Saturday after 5 p.m., please be aware that there is a potential for any information left in the box to be compromised," police warned. "This could include personal information and personal checks."

Similar incidents happened last month, when mailboxes at post offices in Orland Park and Frankfort were sawed open and items stolen from inside.
Anyone who used the mailboxes after that time is encouraged to monitor financial accounts and credit profiles for fraudulent activity.
