New Lenox D122 Students Return To Class Wednesday
Classes will begin in-person learning with a state-wide mask mandate in place.
NEW LENOX, IL — The 2021-22 school year will kick off Wednesday for New Lenox School District 122 schools. Classes will resume with a state-wide mask mandate in place for all students, faculty and staff, per an executive order by Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker.
The mandate has been the subject of contentious debate across the state, but New Lenox D122 Superintendent Lori Motsch confirmed in a letter to parents Aug. 12 that the District would comply with the order.
The letter stated that students would not be allowed into the classroom without a mask unless an approved exemption applied. Students without a mask would be provided one by the school, the letter stated.
