New Lenox Residents Hit With Identity Theft: Police Reports

One person's information was fraudulently used to file income taxes, another's was used to file for unemployment benefits.

NEW LENOX, IL — Three New Lenox residents were the victims of identity theft recently, according to New Lenox police reports.

The three residents all reported the incidents on June 2, according to reports. One resident, in the 700 block of Tanager Lane, told police that someone opened a People's Gas account in their name and accumulated a $1,000 balance.

Another, in the 1900 block of Stapleton Road, said someone used their personal information to fraudulently file an income taxes.

A third, in the 700 block of Mallard Drive, reported that someone used their personal information to file for unemployment benefits.

All three incidents are under investigation.
