'A Pathway to Hope and Healing' In Support of World Suicide Prevention Day

Family members that have been affected by suicide or depression are encouraged to attend.

NEW LENOX, IL — In support of World Suicide Prevention Day, the New Lenox Safe Communities America Coalition is hosting “A Pathway to Hope and Healing.” Family members that have been affected by suicide or depression are encouraged to attend.

Community organizations involved with suicide prevention and awareness will provide information and literature Sept. 7 from 6 pm to 7 pm.

At 7 pm a panel discussion will be held in the New Lenox Village Hall Community Room. The discussion will include firsthand accounts from individuals whose lives have been touched by suicide including:

  • A family member who lost a loved one to suicide
  • A crisis line worker
  • Someone who has attempted suicide
  • A mental health professional

The panel discussion will be followed by a Remembrance and Awareness Walk around the Village Commons at 8 pm. Suicide prevention and awareness ribbons will be provided for all attendees. Closing remarks will be provided by Mayor Tim Baldermann.
