L-Way Area Churches Pack Meals 

The Lincolnway Area Mobile Pack (LAMP) team is gathering in various shifts on Aug. 9-10 at Lincoln-Way West High School, 21701 Gougar Road in New Lenox, to pack food for Feed My Starving Children.

Tuesday

Summer Read Carnival from 1-3 p.m. at Mokena Public Library, 11327 W. 195th St. Winners of the Summer Reading Program will be announced at the Summer Read Carnival. There'll face painting, food, games and prizes.

Frankfort Police Department's Annual Night Out Against Crime is scheduled from 8-9 p.m. at Breidert Village Green, Kansas and Oak Streets. FPD promises to have activities for the entire family.

Wednesday

Outdoor Movies in New Lenox and Frankfort:

The "Odd Life of Timothy Green" begins at 7 p.m. at the Village Commons, 1 Veterans Parkway in New Lenox.

"Hotel Transylvania" begins about 8:30 p.m. at Breidert Village Green, Kansas and Oak Streets in Frankfort.

Knights of Columbus Blood Drive

Heartland Blood Center is setting up from 3-7 p.m. at St. Jude Church, 241 W. Second Ave. Donors must be at least 17 years old.

Friday

Schmooze Rock Festival

The Mokena Chamber of Commerce has moved business networking beyond handing out business cards. They've arranged for two hours of pizza, pasta and live music. The band White Crow will be performing classic rock tunes from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Jenny's Steakhouse, 10160 W. 191st St. in Mokena. It's $15 a ticket. Saturday

Kids Fest 2013

Kids Fest is a free event from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. at the Village Commons, 1 Veterans Parkway in New Lenox. The day will feature jumping castles and  a petting zoo sponsored by Chiro One Wellness Centers, 1938 E. Lincoln Highway, along with touch-a-truck and a child ID station to name a few of the activities. For more information, visit the Village of New Lenox website
