6 Cook County Precincts Remain Open Extra Hour After Late Start: Clerk

The Cook County Clerk's Office obtained a court order to allow six suburban precincts to allow voters until 8 p.m. due to a delayed start.

CHICAGO โ€” As polling places around Illinois begin to wrap up voting for Tuesdayโ€™s primary election, voters in six polling places around Cook County will have an extra hour to cast ballots, the county clerkโ€™s office said.

The six precincts all opened late on Tuesday, the clerkโ€™s office said in a news release and after a judge issued the clerk a court order allowing polls to remain open until 8 p.m., the six precincts were able to allow voters to cast votes later than expected.

  • Kennedy School, 1013 Division St., Chicago Heights (Bloom Township Precinct 12)
  • Golf Middle School, 9401 Waukegan Rd. Morton Grove (Niles Township Precinct)
  • Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, 1114 N. 22nd Ave., Melrose Park (Proviso Township, Precinct 14)
  • Roosevelt School, 1927 S. 15th Ave., Broadview (Proviso Township, Precincts 44 and 88)
  • Douglas MacArthur School, 1800 Chippendale Rd., Hoffman Estates (Schaumburg Township Precinct 31)

As a result of the polls remaining open at the five locations, suburban results will not be available on the Cook County Clerkโ€™s website until after 8 p.m. when the six precincts have closed.
