Amtrak Train Kills Driver Of Minivan In Morton Grove
One man was dead after being struck by an inbound Amtrak Hiawatha line train Sunday.
MORTON GROVE, IL — One man died Sunday after an Amtrak train struck a van near Lincoln and North Lehigh avenues in Morton Grove. Police said an inbound Amtrak Hiawatha line train struck a minivan headed eastbound on Lincoln around 12:05 p.m.
The driver was the only person in the car, police said. Northbound Lehigh Avenue was closed from Chestnut to St. Paul Woods. Westbound Lincoln Avenue was closed from Ferris to St. Paul Woods. Police said drivers would access to St. Paul Woods from Oakton Avenue east of Caldwell Avenue.

There were no injuries reported to any of the 254 passengers on board the train, Amtrak Spokesman Jason Abrams told the Chicago Sun-Times.
